Fantaste, my new favorite Chinese restaurant!
Steamed Multiple Preserved Ham (Php 300.00) |
There are a lot of Chinese restaurants showing up around the metro and they usually serve the same food as the others. This, however, is new to me having to serve Claypot rice.
Claypot rice is traditionally cooked over a charcoal stove which gives the dish a distinct flavor and is often served with dark soya sauce topped with Chinese sausage, chicken, mushrooms, and greens.
Fantaste is the first authentic Claypot rice restaurant in Manila and currently offers 15 Claypot rice variants with Chicken Mushroom as one of its best sellers. Last July, they celebrated their 1st Anniversary and to celebrate this momentous event they launched 4 new Claypot rice dishes.
Spareribs with Black Bean Sauce (Php 320.00) |
This one I personally ordered without knowing it was part of the new menu simply because the black bean sauce seems good at that time and it did not disappoint. I love that the meat is cooked perfectly that it falls off the bones when eating and it tasted really good. Didn't have an overwhelming taste of the black bean sauce, but it's there.
For the other Claypot dishes, I just had a bite from each of them ( I finished my spareribs haha) and everything was good. It's well seasoned, cooked nicely especially the squid, it was not rubbery or gamey but just right.
Braised Pork with Preserved Vegetables (Php 320.00) |
Stir-fried Squid with Soy Sauce (Php 320.00) |
Braised Beef Brisket (Php 340.00) |
Aside from the Claypot rice, they also offer healthy and comforting dishes such as congee, noodles, and broth soup.
Fried Noodles with Three Shreds (Php 150.00) |
Cantonese Steamed Vermicelli Roll (Php 150.00) |
If you would like to try out an authentic Claypot rice dish, definitely give Fantaste a shot. I would recommend ordering the Spareribs and pair it with the Cantonese Steamed Vermicelli roll, it's so good and healthy as well.
You may find them at the Ground Floor Easton Place Condominium 118 Valero St., Salcedo Village, Makati City. Follow them on Instagram @fantasteph for more details and updates.
